Theobroma Cacao
Some of the first cacao pods showed up a couple of weeks ago. Pods grow on the trunk where the tree flowers. The thirty or so beans inside must be fermented, dried, then cracked to get cacao nibs. Not sure yet if these are the Criollo or Trinitario variety.
